Remote triage · mold, damp and air quality

mold, damp and air quality, assessed remotely first.

Remote Environmental & Mold Triage Advisory (RETA)

Before anyone comes to the property, a CapsuLabs specialist reviews your photos, video and answers, then goes through it with you on a 30 to 60 minute video call. You finish with a written initial roadmap: what the risk is, what to do now, and whether an on-site inspection is needed at all.

When it is the right first step

mold at home or in an apartment, triaged before a visit.

Most mold questions start with a stain, a smell or a cough that will not go away. A remote session sorts out what you are looking at and how urgent it is, so the next step is the right one.

Mold on a wall or ceiling

Black spots behind the wardrobe, in the corner of the ceiling or around the window. On the call we work out whether it is condensation, a leak or structural damp, and how urgent it is.

After water damage

A leak, a flood or a burst pipe. Early water damage advice tells you what to dry, what to document for the insurer, and when a measurement is worth it.

A musty smell, nothing visible

A smell that comes back in a closed room or from the air conditioner. We go through the moisture sources and the air conditioning together to find where it comes from.

Indoor air quality at home

Coughing, watering eyes or allergies that get worse at home. We look at whether mold, damp or ventilation could be behind it, and which test would answer the question.

How it runs

four steps, from the request to the roadmap.

The session is only as good as the file behind it, so the preparation is part of the service.

  1. A short form

Tell us what you see and where. We call you back to arrange the session.

  2. Questionnaire, photos, video

After confirmation you get a link. At least 2 hours before the call you send the questionnaire, 5 to 10 clear photos and a 15 to 30 second video, and if you like, room data for CapsuleAI.

  3. 30 to 60 minutes

The specialist goes through the moisture sources, the possible mold sites and the air conditioning with you, in real time.

  4. A written next step

One or two pages: the risks found, what to do straight away, and whether an on-site inspection is needed.

Why start remotely

a complete preliminary assessment, with no unnecessary visit.

  • Remote, and completeA specialist reads your file before the call and questions it live: moisture sources, likely mold sites, the air conditioning. No trip to the property until there is a reason for one.
  • Lab logic, neutral and independentThe advice rests on building physics and on what your photos, video and answers show: damp, dew point, airflow. It is a laboratory’s reading of your data, not a guess from a photo.
  • CapsuleAI on your room dataSend a hygrometer reading or a few facts about the room, and CapsuleAI, the CapsuLabs model, estimates how likely mold is to grow there now and over the next 90 days. The specialist reads it alongside everything else.
  • 100% credited if a visit is neededThe cost of your triage session is 100% deductible from a full on-site inspection booked within 14 days of the call. Starting remotely never costs you twice.

What you receive

an initial sanitary roadmap, in writing.

After the call the specialist issues a short document you can act on, share with a landlord or keep for the insurer.

  • The risks identified: mold, air movement and condensation, structural damp, each with how strongly the evidence points to it.
  • What to do straight away: protective steps for the days ahead, such as how to ventilate, and why not to scrape or dry-brush the spores.
  • The next step: whether an on-site inspection is needed, and which measurements would answer the open question.
  • The CapsuleAI estimate: when you send room data: the model's risk estimate and what drives it, marked clearly as an estimate.
  • A credit code: valid for 14 days, that takes the full cost of the session off an on-site inspection.

Said plainly

what a remote session is, and what it is not.

A remote session is a preliminary technological screening based on the data you send. It is not an expert opinion admissible in court, and it does not replace a physical inspection with laboratory measurements (qPCR, thermography) on site. When those are needed, the roadmap says so.

Before you ask

What people ask about remote triage.

How does a remote mold consultation work?

Once you approve the quote, you receive a link to a short background questionnaire. At least 2 hours before the call you upload 5 to 10 clear photos and a short video of the room. The specialist reviews it all in advance, then goes through the moisture sources, the possible mold sites and the air conditioning with you on a 30 to 60 minute video call. You finish with a written initial sanitary roadmap.

Can mold at home be identified without a site visit?

A lot can be worked out: whether it is condensation, a leak or structural damp, how urgent it is and what to do meanwhile. What a remote session cannot do is measure. Airborne spore levels, mold species and moisture inside a wall need samples and readings on site, so the session is a first screening and the roadmap says whether an on-site inspection is needed.

What if an on-site inspection is needed after all?

The cost of the session is deducted in full from a full on-site inspection booked within 14 days of the call. The roadmap carries a credit code for it, and what you already sent helps plan the visit.

What does CapsuleAI do with my room data?

If you send a hygrometer reading, or details such as the floor, the building age, the windows, how the room is aired and the air conditioning, the CapsuLabs model estimates the risk of mold growing in the room now and over the next 90 days, and shows what drives that estimate. It is an estimate, not a measurement: the specialist weighs it with the photos and the call, and it appears on the roadmap when it adds something.

Can the consultation be used for an insurer or in court?

No. The session is a preliminary technological screening based on the data you provide, and it is not an expert opinion admissible in court. When you need a document for an insurer, a landlord or a legal process, the next step is an on-site inspection with measurements and a laboratory report.
